Bathing
One of the things many beginner owners dismiss is bathing. Not only does it keep your birds plumage (feathers) nice and colourful and healthy but it keeps your bird healthy as well! In summer you should bathe your birds every day or 5 times minimum a week. In spring and autumn , pretty much every time its hot, in winter keep it to a minimum about 1 – 3 times a week. Different birds like to bathe in different ways
1) Spray Bottle
The spray bottle is simply filling a clean and chemical free spray bottle with water and spraying upwards so it falls on the bird like raindrops. Many birds prefer this way because in the wild birds sometimes bathe in the rain so naturally, our pet birds will be comfortable with it.
2) Bathing in the tub
My cockatiel loved this, I would fill the bathtub a little just to cover the floor and plug the drain and put my bird in. He would bath himself by splashing with his wings and sliding through the water, it was cute.
3) Sink
Turn the tap and let your bird perch on your hand so it can bathe in the running water
4) Bathing with you
If your bird likes this, install a shower perch in your shower so it can shower with you! Although avoid getting soap or shampoo or any other products near your bird and use a light shower head so the water doesn’t hurt you bird.
